Personalised Message On Cake
E.g: Happy Birthday Kevin
Special Instructions
E.g: Draw Heart Shape With Message
So someone came in the other day and asked if we did a pistachio cake.
I said yes obviously because we do now but funny thing is? A year ago I'd have said no. Kept seeing them pop up everywhere. Instagram. TikTok. That one bakery in London everyone queues for. And I thought yeah alright maybe I should figure out what the fuss is about.
Took a few tries if I'm honest. First batch was too dry. Second batch the buttercream went weird. Third time? Third time we nailed it and honestly I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.
It's not what you expect.
Like if you think it's gonna be that bright green synthetic colour you see everywhere? Not this one. It's more subtle. The colour comes from the nuts themselves because we grind them up fine and put them straight in the sponge. No packets. No powders. Just nuts butter sugar eggs flour and a bit of vanilla.
The buttercream though. That's the bit people lose their minds over.
It's smooth and creamy and tastes like... I dunno how to describe it. Like pistachio but better? Richer? My mate Sarah said it's like eating a fancy Italian dessert but in cake form. She's usually quite dramatic but honestly she wasn't wrong that time.
We top it with crushed pistachios obviously.
Lots of them. Not just a sprinkle round the edge like you're being frugal. We cover the top and press them into the sides so every bite gets that little crunch.
People order this for all sorts really:
Birthdays (grown ups seem to love it more than kids actually)
Anniversaries
Afternoon tea with mates
Honestly sometimes just because it's Tuesday and why not
If you're local to Bromley you can order online and come grab it from us. If you're a bit further out drop us a message and we'll see what we can do. Just try and give us a couple days notice because we're not a massive factory we're just us and we make everything fresh when it's ordered.
One thing I should mention. It's quite moreish. Like dangerously so. If you're feeding six people maybe get the bigger size because someone will definitely go back for seconds. Probably me if I'm honest.
Right anyway. That's the pistachio cake. The one I wasn't sure about that ended up being my favourite.
Come try it and let me know what you think. But go easy on me if you spot any mistakes I'm still learning like everyone else.
