Product Description

Right. This one’s for the dreamers, the night owls, the people who look up at the sky and feel calm.

You know that feeling when you see a crescent moon hanging low, with a few stars around it? It’s quiet, it’s magical, it’s a little bit mysterious. That’s this cake. Not a full circle – a half moon. A crescent. Like the night sky took a bite out of it.

Someone asked me a while back: “can you make a cake shaped like a moon for my daughter’s space‑themed birthday? Not a round planet – a crescent moon, like in storybooks.”

I said yeah, course. I carved a vanilla cake into a crescent shape, covered it in pale yellow buttercream, added a dusting of edible glitter, and put a few little stars around it. She said it looked like something from a fairy tale. That’s a win.

So here it is: Half Moon Cake – available at our Bromley bakery.

It’s a crescent‑shaped cake, about 7 inches wide. Feeds 6–10 people. Perfect for a space themed partynight sky celebrationbaby shower (for a little one who’ll be your moon and stars), or any time you want something a bit different from round.

What’s in it?

  • Sponge – vanilla, chocolate, or lemon. Your choice. Lemon is lovely – zesty and bright like moonlight.

  • Frosting – pale yellow or white buttercream. Smooth, like a soft glow. Or you can do dark blue for a night sky – just tell me.

  • The half moon shape – I bake a round cake, then carve it into a crescent. It’s not a perfect half‑circle – it’s a bit rustic, like a real moon.

  • The details – little fondant stars around the edge, a dusting of edible silver or gold glitter, and maybe a tiny star on top.

  • The night sky – you can have a dark blue buttercream base with a yellow moon, or a pale yellow moon with white stars. You choose.

It’s the cake that makes you feel like you’re sleeping under the stars. Even if you’re in your kitchen.

Who buys this?

  • Space themed birthday cake – for little astronauts and stargazers.

  • Baby shower cake – “I love you to the moon and back.”

  • Night sky celebration – for a birthday that happens at dusk or under the stars.

  • Anniversary cake – for couples who’ve been together “over the moon.”

  • Just because – you love the moon and want to eat it.

  • Honestly? Anyone who’s ever looked up and felt small in a good way.

Can I get a different colour scheme?

Yeah. Dark blue with a silver moon, black with a gold moon, even a pink moon (yes, that’s a real thing). Just tell me.

Can I add a message or name?

Course. “I Love You to the Moon and Back”, “Happy Birthday”, “Leo” – I’ll pipe it in silver or white.

How much notice?

Few days if you can. Carving the crescent takes a bit of care. Order online or message me – I’ll be honest.

Collection or delivery?

Collect from our Bromley shop or local delivery if you're nearby.

One thing to mention…

The crescent shape is hand‑carved – it won’t be a perfect mathematical half‑moon. That’s the charm, like the real moon with its craters and bumps. Also the stars are fondant – edible but a bit hard. Kids might want to keep them.

Right. That’s the Half Moon one done.
For the people who believe that the moon is made of cheese. Or cake. (It’s cake.)
