Someone asked me a while back: “can you make a green cake that’s not just food colouring? I love matcha and pistachio. Something exotic for my wife’s birthday. We’re in Grove Park.”
I said yeah, course. I made a matcha sponge (real Japanese matcha, not the cheap stuff), layered it with pistachio buttercream (real ground pistachios), and decorated it with a swirl of matcha buttercream and a sprinkle of crushed pistachios. She said it was like a trip to Japan in cake form. That’s a win.

It’s a round cake, about 7 inches. Feeds 6–10 people. You can also get it square – just ask. Perfect for a birthday, anniversary, afternoon tea, Mother’s Day, or any time you want something a little different from the usual vanilla and chocolate.
What’s in it?
Sponge – matcha. I use ceremonial grade matcha (the good stuff) – it’s vibrant green, earthy, and not bitter. The sponge is light, fluffy, and smells amazing.
Filling – pistachio buttercream (real ground pistachios, butter, and a touch of white chocolate for sweetness). Creamy, nutty, and the perfect match for matcha.
Frosting – matcha buttercream or pistachio buttercream – you choose. I like to do a matcha buttercream with a pistachio drip, or vice versa.
The exotic bits – a sprinkle of crushed pistachios on top, a dusting of matcha powder, and a few edible gold flakes if you want to be fancy.
The look – vibrant green, elegant, and a little bit mysterious. It’s a cake that stands out on any table.

One thing to mention…
The matcha colour is natural – it might fade slightly over time, but it’s still delicious. This cake contains nuts (pistachios) – not suitable for severe allergies. If you want it nut‑free, I can do a matcha cake with white chocolate buttercream instead.

Product Life After Purchase
Our fresh cream cakes have a fridge shelf life of 24 hours and should be consumed within this time. For best results, place the cake in the refrigerator within 45 minutes (maximum 2 hours) of purchase and store at a temperature between 2°C and 5°C.
Refund Policy
We do not offer refunds for cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled collection or delivery time. Refunds are also not provided for failed deliveries or cakes that remain uncollected for any reason.

The delivery drivers aim to deliver your order within the selected time slot. However, delays may occur due to circumstances beyond our control, such as traffic. If this happens, we will try to contact you using the phone number you provided.
When the driver arrives, they will knock or ring the bell. If there is no response, they will attempt to call you. If still unanswered, the order will be returned to our store. In such cases, you will need to contact us to arrange redelivery (charged at our standard delivery rate) or collect your order from our store free of charge. Delivery charges are non-refundable.
If you miss your scheduled delivery day and request a refund or a replacement cake for the next day, an additional charge will apply.
For flats or apartment buildings, we kindly ask that you meet the driver at the main entrance.
On receiving your order, please check your cake carefully, especially the written message and its condition. Any damage must be reported immediately. Please take clear photos, inform the driver, and refuse the delivery if necessary. Once a delivery is accepted and the driver has left, it becomes more difficult for us to investigate. As we work with third-party couriers, minor imperfections may occur. While we strive to fulfil every order with care, we ask for your understanding of slight damages. If your cake arrives in poor condition, please take photos and return it with the driver to the store for a refund.
