Right so you remember the full red velvet cake? The one that confuses people because they think it's just chocolate cake with red food colouring? The one I had to explain isn't actually chocolate cake at all?
Yeah. We put all that in a cupcake.
Someone asked for these for a hen do actually.
They wanted something that looked a bit fancy. Bit dramatic. But easy for people to just grab and eat without plates and forks and all that faff. Red velvet's perfect for that. Looks impressive. Tastes balanced. Fits in your hand. Sorted.
Here's what you're getting.
The sponge first. Same as the big cake. Light. Really light. Almost velvety which is where the name comes from obviously. Got a tiny bit of cocoa in there. Just enough to give it something. Not enough to make it taste like chocolate cake. It's subtle. Then buttermilk. That's the secret honestly. Makes it tender. Soft. Slightly tangy but in a good way.
Then the colour. That deep red. Not too bright. Not too dark. Just right. Baked in a nice tall case so there's plenty of room for frosting.
The frosting is the important bit.
Cream cheese frosting. Has to be. Anything else is wrong. Some places do normal buttercream and it's just not right. The tang of the cream cheese against the slight sweetness of the cake? That's the whole point. So we do a proper cream cheese frosting. Thick. Slightly tangy. Not too sweet.
Then we pipe it on. Big swirl. Nice and tall. Then a little sprinkle of red crumbs on top. Made from baked sponge crumbled up. Looks dead good. Proper bakery style.

People having parties. Hen dos. Birthdays. All that.
Couples for Valentine's. The red colour works obviously.
Americans. Had a few American customers say it reminds them of home.
Anyone who wants something that looks dramatic but tastes balanced.

One thing I should mention. The cream cheese frosting means they need to be kept cool. Not fridged cold because that ruins the sponge. But cool. Out of direct sun. If it's a hot day and you're travelling far maybe bring a cool bag. Just a heads up.
Also the colour is proper red. If you want it more subtle I can do that next time. Just let me know.

Product Life After Purchase
Our fresh cream cakes have a fridge shelf life of 24 hours and should be consumed within this time. For best results, place the cake in the refrigerator within 45 minutes (maximum 2 hours) of purchase and store at a temperature between 2°C and 5°C.
Refund Policy
We do not offer refunds for cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled collection or delivery time. Refunds are also not provided for failed deliveries or cakes that remain uncollected for any reason.

The delivery drivers aim to deliver your order within the selected time slot. However, delays may occur due to circumstances beyond our control, such as traffic. If this happens, we will try to contact you using the phone number you provided.
When the driver arrives, they will knock or ring the bell. If there is no response, they will attempt to call you. If still unanswered, the order will be returned to our store. In such cases, you will need to contact us to arrange redelivery (charged at our standard delivery rate) or collect your order from our store free of charge. Delivery charges are non-refundable.
If you miss your scheduled delivery day and request a refund or a replacement cake for the next day, an additional charge will apply.
For flats or apartment buildings, we kindly ask that you meet the driver at the main entrance.
On receiving your order, please check your cake carefully, especially the written message and its condition. Any damage must be reported immediately. Please take clear photos, inform the driver, and refuse the delivery if necessary. Once a delivery is accepted and the driver has left, it becomes more difficult for us to investigate. As we work with third-party couriers, minor imperfections may occur. While we strive to fulfil every order with care, we ask for your understanding of slight damages. If your cake arrives in poor condition, please take photos and return it with the driver to the store for a refund.
