Right. This one’s for the football fanatics.
You know who they are. They’ve got a season ticket, a scarf collection, and they definitely argue about offside rules like they’re a Premier League ref. Their birthday falls during the season? You bet they want a cake that celebrates the beautiful game. And not just a round cake with a ball on top – something that says “football is life”.
Someone asked me a while back: “can you make a football cake for my husband’s 40th? He lives and breathes Liverpool. Can you do red, a goal, and his favourite player’s name?”
I said yeah, course. I made a round cake, green buttercream pitch on top, a little white chocolate goal, and piped “Salah 11” on the side. He nearly cried. That’s a win.
So here it is: Football Lovers Cake – available at our Bromley bakery.
It’s a round cake, about 7 inches. Feeds 6–10 people. Perfect for a football fan’s birthday, match day party, end‑of‑season celebration, or any time you want to score big with a footie lover.
What’s in it?
Sponge – vanilla, chocolate, or red velvet. Your choice. Chocolate is a safe bet for most fans.
Frosting – green buttercream for the pitch, or your team’s colours (red for Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal, blue for Chelsea/City, white for Spurs, etc.). You tell me the team.
The football bits – a white chocolate football on top, or a piped goal, or little fondant boots. I can also add a player’s shirt number and name on the side.
The pitch – green buttercream smoothed out, with white icing lines to look like a football pitch. A few little fondant players if you want.
The details – “Happy Birthday” or the team name piped in your club’s colours.
It’s the cake that makes the fan say “that’s class” before they even taste it. And then they taste it, and they ask for another slice at half‑time.
Who buys this?
Football fan birthday cake – any age, any team.
Match day watch party – invite mates over for the game and surprise them with this.
End‑of‑season celebration – they won the league? Or just survived relegation? Both deserve cake.
Father’s Day cake – dads love football and cake.
Just because – you want to show you know their passion.
Honestly? Anyone who’s ever shouted at the telly like the players can hear them.
Can I get a specific team’s colours or badge?
Yes. Tell me the team – Premier League, Championship, even local non‑league. I’ll match the colours and do a simplified version of the badge (copyright means I can’t do exact, but close enough). Or I can just do the colours and a football.
Can I add a player’s name and number?
Course. “Salah 11”, “Kane 10”, “Haaland 9” – I’ll pipe it on the side.
Can I add a message?
“Happy Birthday”, “Up the Reds”, “Come on You Blues” – whatever you want.
How much notice?
Few days if you want simple. Week if you want a detailed pitch and goal. Order online or message me – I’ll be honest.
Collection or delivery?
Collect from our Bromley shop or local delivery if you're nearby.
One thing to mention…
The green buttercream is food coloured – no weird taste. The white chocolate football is edible and pretty sturdy. If you want a specific player figurine on top, you’ll need to provide it – I can’t supply licensed toys, but I can make a space.
Right. That’s the Football Lovers Cake one done.
For the fans who eat, sleep, and breathe the game. And who know that the best way to celebrate a win (or forget a loss) is with cake.
