Product Description

Right. These are for the people who love a bit of tartness with their sweet.

Blackberries are underrated, I think. Everyone goes mad for strawberries and raspberries, but blackberries? They’ve got that deep, dark colour, a little bit of sharpness, and a earthy sweetness. They’re perfect in a cupcake. I take fresh blackberries (when they’re in season) or good quality frozen ones, fold them into a light vanilla sponge, then fill the centre with a tangy blackberry compote. Then I top them with a swirl of blackberry buttercream or a simple vanilla cream cheese frosting, and finish with a fresh blackberry and a drizzle of blackberry puree.

Someone asked me a while back: “can you make blackberry cupcakes for my mum’s birthday? She’s got a blackberry bush in her garden. We’re in Sydenham.”

I said yeah, course. I made vanilla cupcakes with fresh blackberries folded in, put a spoonful of homemade blackberry jam in the middle, and topped them with a blackberry buttercream. She said they tasted like her garden. That’s a win.

So here it is: Blackberry Cupcakes – available for delivery and collection across Bromley, Downham, Grove Park, Sydenham, Catford & Bellingham.

They come in boxes of 6 or 12. Perfect for a summer birthdaygarden partyafternoon teababy shower, or any time you want a cupcake that’s a little bit rustic and a little bit fancy.

What’s in them?

  • The sponge – light vanilla with fresh or frozen blackberries folded into the batter. The berries burst during baking, leaving little purple pockets of tartness. I also add a touch of lemon zest to brighten the flavour.

  • The filling – a hidden spoonful of homemade blackberry compote (just blackberries, sugar, and a squeeze of lemon) in the centre. When you bite in, it oozes out – that’s the best part.

  • The frosting – you have two choices: blackberry buttercream (buttercream with blackberry puree – it’s pale purple and fruity) or cream cheese frosting (tangy and creamy). I recommend the blackberry buttercream for a double berry hit.

  • The topping – a fresh blackberry on top, a drizzle of blackberry puree, and a few tiny mint leaves or a sprinkle of purple sugar.

  • The look – a soft purple‑speckled sponge, a swirl of pale lavender frosting, and a glossy blackberry on top. They’re very pretty, very summery.

They’re not too sweet – the blackberries add a lovely sharpness that cuts through the sugar. You could eat three without feeling sick.

Who buys these?

  • Summer birthday cupcakes – July, August, September – when blackberries are at their best.

  • Garden party cupcakes – perfect for afternoon tea in the garden.

  • Afternoon tea – a lovely change from lemon and raspberry.

  • Baby shower cupcakes – the soft purple colour is beautiful.

  • Just because – you want a cupcake that’s a little different from the usual.

  • Honestly? Anyone who’s ever gone blackberry picking and ended up with stained fingers and a bucket of berries.

Can I get a different berry?

Yes. I can do mixed berry (blackberry, raspberry, blueberry) or just raspberry – just tell me.

Can I add a message on the box?

I can attach a little tag – “Happy Birthday”, “Berry Nice”, “Garden Fresh” – just tell me.

How much notice?

A few days is fine. I need fresh or good quality frozen blackberries. Order online or message me – I’ll be honest.

Collection or delivery?

Collect from our Bromley shop or get local delivery to Downham, Grove Park, Sydenham, Catford, Bellingham – all within easy reach.

One thing to mention…

The fresh blackberries on top are best eaten the same day – they can go soft. The compote filling is made with real fruit, so it’s a little looser than jam – that’s the good stuff. Best eaten within 2‑3 days. Keep them in a cool place.

Right. That’s the Blackberry Cupcakes done.
For the people who believe that blackberries don’t get enough love. And that a cupcake with a burst of tart fruit is the best kind of summer treat – delivered right to your door in Bromley, Downham, Grove Park, Sydenham, Catford, or Bellingham.
