I said yeah, course. So I made a dark chocolate sponge, filled it with a smooth chocolate ganache, then covered the sides and top with a ring of mixed macarons – pink, purple, blue, yellow, whatever looks good. Chocolate ganache between the layers and a thin layer on top (just enough to stick the macarons). Then I arrange the macarons around the edge and pile a few on top. But they’re proper French ones, crisp and chewy.
